2015 Maze Cup Team Recap

Congratulations to all of the players, Coaches Hank Pfister, Mark McCampbell, and Captain Jim Buck for bringing the Maze Cup back to SoCal! The final Score was 13-7 for SoCal.

Maze-cup-2015-2The 2015 Maze Cup was a spectacular event held at the beautiful Stockdale Country Club, in Bakersfield, CA.

Special thanks goes to Jackie Owens for making the event run smooth for all players, and coaches.

Here is the breakdown:

Day One

The fans were provided with fantastic match ups in all divisions. The girls started first with both the 18’s and 16’s splitting matches.

G16

  • Nicole Mossmer (SoCal) def. Katya Tabachnik (norcal) 6-2,6-4
  • Sara Choy (norcal) def. Ryan Peus (SoCal) 6-2,6-2

G18

  • Alaina Miller (norcal) def. Jada Hart (SoCal) 2-6,6-2,6-1
  • Emma Higuchi (SoCal) def. Darya Posskhova (norcal)  6-0,6-3

The boys were up next, and they took 3 out of four matches.

B16

  • Austen Huang (norcal) def Daunte Harris (SoCal) 2-6,6-3,7-6
  • Robert Baylon (Socal) def. Ajai Shekhera (norcal)   6-4,6-3

B18

  • Connor Hance (socal) def. Alexander Keyser (norcal) 6-4,4-6,6-4
  • Brandon Holt (socal) def Andrew Gu (norcal)  7-6,1-6,6-3

So SoCal was up 5-2 after singles.

Doubles

B16

  • Austen Huang/Mason Xue (norcal) def. Daunte Harris/Kento Perera (socal) 7-6,6-2

B18

Connor Hance/Brandon Holt (socal) def.  Andrew Gu/Alexander Keyser (norcal) 6-3,7-6

G16

SoCal took 3 out of 4 in doubles to get to a 8-4 lead going into the final day.
